Suma larga

Long addition (the traditional method of adding from right to left) is a process for adding numbers together. Whole numbers, decimal numbers, and small and big numbers can all be added using long addition.
Numerical addition relies on the fact that the sum does not change depending on the order in which the numbers were added. Nor is the value of any number affected by breaking it into its parts.
Write the numbers you want to add, one underneath another, aligning them by their place value. So that all tenths or hundredths or ones or hundreds (and so on) digits are in the same column.

Main steps of long addition:
1. Write the numbers you wish to add, one underneath the other. Make sure to place each number directly below the one above it, according to its place value.
2. Add up the numbers in the right-most column.
3. If the sum is between 0 and 9 (i.e., a one-digit number), write it below the column. If the sum equals 10 or more (a two-digit number), write the right digit below the column and the left digit at the top of the next column to the left. This is called "carrying."
4. Add the numbers in the column to the left, including the number carried from the previous column if there is one.
5. Repeat until all columns have been added.
6. The number that is written below the columns is the total sum.

Other relevant terms:
Addends: The numbers added together.
Sum: The total amount resulting from adding two or more numbers.
Carrying: When the sum of a column is ten or more (a double-digit number), the left digit, which is a multiple of ten, is carried over to the next place value column. For example, ten ones become ten, or ten tens become one hundred. To carry a number is sometimes also called to bring a number over.
