Simplifying radicals

A Square Root Radical is said to be simplified, or in its simplest form, when the radicand has no square factors.

Consider (55), for example, has no square factors. Its factors are 5 and 11 (511=55), neither of which is a square number. Therefore, it is in its simplest form.

In contrast (200), has the square factor 100. (200=1002). Therefore, it is not in its simplest form. To get the simplest form (200)=(100)(2)=10(2)
